Lunch in Basel

Came across this Soup Bar by chance. Its just behind the Kunstmuseum and its called So'up. They do excellent soup, served with bread and a fruit of choice for CHFr 7.50. I had a beautiful Tuscan lentil soup which really made me happy. Its a small and very nice place, run by friendly women. The Espresso is good and the little chocolate bricks are magnificent. They also do a fixed lunch menu with soup and salad for CHFr 12.00. Sit in or take away. If you're hungry in Basel, check it out!

Trip to Art Basel
Went to Basel today to see the Jean-Frédéric Schnyder show at the Museum für Gegenwartskunst and on to the Art Basel.
Jean-Frédéric Schnyder's show is great, full of humour and brilliant work old and new. It's a must see.
The Art did not offer much new - although its a bit hard to tell as we didn't have so much time and there's loads of stuff... but there's one outstanding installation by Christoph Büchel in Art Unlimited - this alone is worth a trip to Basel. Büchel's installation «Chinese Recycling Area: including camper and Meth-Lab» is a heavy (and huge) piece on (what I guess) american soldiers in the Irak war and at home... a very clever work. Big.
